Example Recent College Graduate:
I am looking forward to continuing my studies at Dartmouth. I had been thinking about going to medical school, but have recently discovered the work of public health. I am interested in learning more about the way public health programs are developed and how the outcomes of the efforts are measured. While physicians can affect the lives of individuals, I am more interested in affecting the lives of groups of people who share common challenges.

Example Mid-career professional:
I'm excited to join The Geisel School of Medicine's MPH program. My interests in public health and health policy flourished during my experiences as a researcher where I discovered the importance of treatment and prevention. In 2010, I co-founded a global health nonprofit that works in developing communities to address issues related to health and sanitation, engaging students from around the nation. Since then, I've been working as a healthcare consultant. It has become my passion to improve access to care and to develop innovative models for health services at hospitals and in newly emerging healthcare delivery settings.

Example Clinician:
I am coming to The Geisel School of Medicine after already practicing medicine as a psychiatrist for 18 years. Through my practice, I pursued an interest in understanding how people function, which got me interested in how people in groups function, which got me interested in how groups function; this lead to an interest in administrative processes and leadership. I then became interested in how quality and quality improvement could drive achievement of excellence in an organization. Coming to Dartmouth will equip me with tools, methods and approaches which are used to inform quality improvement in all aspects of healthcare.
